Welcome to the post about the Magic Maidens NFT collection (MMs). Magic Maidens is a collection of 1000 NFTs that live on the Polygon Blockchain.
I'm a gamer and a big fan of role playing games where magic, swords, axes, bows, and staffs are involved. After seeing a lot of amazing NFT collections that were so big, I wondered how did they do it? So I figured it out and wanted to create some more magic by creating Magic Maidens!
Instead of drawing 1,000 unique Magic Maidens, I designed and drew many different layers that all work together, then generated 1,000 unique drawings inputting the layers through a generator. Each Magic Maiden has a school of magic (fire 🔥, frost ❄️, or lighting ⚡), a color of clothing (red, blue, or green), equipment (a staff, bow, axe, or sword), an amulet (skull, sun, moon, or eye), a hood or no hood, style of hair, eyes, and mouth. All of these traits have varying degrees of rarity when combined to make a unique powerful Magic Maiden.
So, what is an NFT? A non-fungible token (NFT) is a financial security consisting of digital data stored in a blockchain, a form of distributed ledger. The ownership of an NFT is recorded in the blockchain, and can be transferred by the owner, allowing NFTs to be sold and traded.
Each image has metadata attached to it describing their attributes, the drawing's name, description, dna, date, external url, compiler, and image location on IPFS (InterPlanetary File System). These Magic Maidens are attached to the Polygon Blockchain via a smart contract and need to be 'minted' for their power to be wielded and traded on marketplaces like Opensea.io.
What does 'minting' mean? Minting an NFT means converting digital data into crypto collections or digital assets recorded on the blockchain.
Venture on over to magicmaidens.xyz to the dApp I developed where all the Magic Maidens can be minted and their power ready to be wielded in this realm 💀. In order to mint, you will need a crypto wallet such as Metamask (a popular favorite for ease of use and access) or Brave (which uses Metamask), otherwise the site will show a loading wheel forever. Connect your wallet via your browser extensions and the dApp will then let you start minting. Each Magic Maiden costs 10 MATIC (MATIC is the cryptocurrency used on Polygon Mainnet) and at the time of writing this post is about $5 USD, so you will have to purchase or trade for some MATIC first before minting. Make sure its not MATIC on the Ethereum Mainnet (there is a difference). You can only mint up to 10 Magic Maidens max in each transaction (to give everyone a chance to get theirs). Now to make sure the transaction doesn't fail, you will have to up the gas price to have these minted (which is also fairly cheap on Polygon). Gas is a fee that miners are paid to process the transaction (in this case it is also in MATIC).
After successful minting, you can head over to the collection on Opensea.io, connect your wallet, and view your Magic Maiden(s)! You now wield the power and can also display them as your avatar on your favorite platforms!
